Tradition

Beginning in 1998, we resurrected the century-long tradition of celebrating the 14th of February - St. Tripun, the protector of vinedressers, also known as Tripun the drunkard.

On this date each year, the winery "Povardarie" organizes trimming of the vines in the presence of clergymen and guests from all over the Republic of Macedonia. After the trimming of the vines the celebration is continued on the town square, where, during the public festivity, wine and grappa are poured from oak casks, in the midst of a program of cultural and artistic events which last until late at night. With the sponsorship of the Winery "Povardarie", among our associates are chosen: the best vine -dresser of the previous vintage, the best young vinedresser, and the oldest vinedresser, which are all symbolically rewarded. As a part of the celebration, a colony of fine arts is also organized for young artists, on the subject of vineyards and grapes. The best artistic pieces are rewarded, after which the Winery "Povardarie" gains ownership of all the paintings.
We put efforts into making this event one of the larger one in Macedonia, thanks to which Negotino and the Winery "Povardarie" would be recognized throughout the world.
